The mission of the Pet Patrol is to assist low-income individuals with chronic or life threatening illness, such as HIV/AIDS, to care for and keep their companion pets in order to ease loneliness, improve communication, improve physical and cognitive functioning, decrease stress and anxiety, improve body image (animals provide unconditional acceptance) and motivate clients to participate in their recovery, both physical and psychological.
